This morning when I was praying, the Lord began to teach me about Spiritual warfare.  Even though I have always considered myself to be knowledgeable of the word, the concept of how to truly perform spiritual warfare eluded me. I have some very spiritual friends and when I hear them talk on the subject, it seems more like rocket science than something I can do. I have often not thought of myself as a prayer warrior because of this, I mean, when do I bind?, what do I loose?, when do I dispatch angels and all that stuff? My prayers are more like “HELP!!!!”.

The Lord told me this morning to lift up my sword in battle. The sword is the Word of God which we understand to be the scriptures contained in the Bible, but the Word is also referred to in John 1:1 (“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.").  This reference speaks of Jesus as the Word of God, so when we lift up our sword and proclaim God's words, promises, plans, etc. in whatever situation Satan has brought upon us, we release the supernatural power of Jesus himself into our situation. Just as an earthly sword’s power is limited to ability of the fighter to wield it, our spiritual swords are only limited by our willingness to pick it up, stand firm and not back down.

 

God’s word contains all of the power we could ever need in any situation that we could ever face, but it must actually be brought out and used to fight.. God keeps it so simple and we make it so complex. If it were something we had to do in our own strength, we wouldn’t even need Him. The Lord has already given us all that we could ever need.

It’s time to pull out our swords and fight!
