It's amazing that we, as created beings, are given the ability to attain spiritual immortality by making a decision to receive the eternal life purchased for us by Jesus.

1 Corinthians 15:51-54 (New International Version)

Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."

As an immortal person, it's surprising how much I tend to cling to the mortal things and base my life on the temporary.  Creation is mortal, the earth is mortal, material things are mortal (in the sense that they will not last forever or even a short while).  It's amazing that people that have an eternal existence with the creator of every created thing could even find the slightest fascination with anything so temporary.

2Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.

When Jesus was offered all of the kingdoms of the world he didn't fall for it because he was focused on eternity.  The decisions that he made at that moment would affect more than just that moment, or his lifetime, but forever.  The decisions that we make today could also affect our entire lifetime and eternity for ourselves and others.
God truly expresses his value for you that he made the way to spend an eternity with you. We should recognize our value and live our lives in the power and magnitude God created it for.  It is time for the sons and daughters of God to rise up and use each moment effectively to positively affect FOREVER...
